why choose bamboo?
Bamboo fabric (technically known as viscose from bamboo) has a long list of fabulous qualities!
It's extraordinarily comfortable - more comfy than anything else I've ever worn. Seriously. I got into this business because I loved a pair of baboo yoga pants so much I never wanted to take them off! :) It is the most comfortable fabric you'll ever wear - it's lightweight, flowing & it drapes beautifully. My mom also claims that putting on her bamboo pants & jacket immediately makes her look 10 pounds thinner, but that hasn't been proven by independent lab testing, so I'll let you be the judge!
It is super breathable. Part of what makes viscose from bamboo so comfortable is it's breathability. This naturally gives bamboo many of the same advantages as many of the engineered "performance" fabrics, but in in natural product.
It wicks moisture. Where it wicks it to, I have no idea, but I do know bamboo stays dry. I can wear my bamboo socks inside my super warm boots, walk around all day, and my feet stay fresh & dry. When I had the H1N1 flu (oh, what fun that was!) I would wake up in a cold sweat - but my bamboo sheets wicked away the moisture & stayed dry - my cotton ones really couldn't compare. Perfect for working out!
It's ridiculously soft. When people feel viscose-of-bamboo, they all have the same reaction - "Wow, that's so soft!" It really is extremely soft. The sheets & towels just make you want to melt (or never get out of bed!)
It holds it's dye FOREVER! This might be one of my favorite things, especially since I wear a lot of black. It doesn't matter how many times I wash my clothes, they stay true to color! So I can wash my pants every 3 days, but only wash the jacket every 2 weeks, and they are still the same color! Phenomenal.
It looks luxurious. This is really the bottom line for me - I want to look classy, but stay comfortable. Bamboo lets me do just that!
It travels well. Bamboo is lightweight, which makes it perfect for your travel wardrobe!
all about bamboo fabric...
Bamboo fabric (truly viscose-from-bamboo) is made from the pulp of bamboo grass. It's softer than cotton, has a gorgeous drape & a silky feel that looks luxurious but feels like pajamas!
Because it grows so fast - 1-3 feet every 24 hours - bamboo is one of the most renewable resources on the planet. It also produces 40% more oxygen than a hardwood forest on the same amount of land.
Bamboo is also "naturally organic." Bamboo grows like a weed (people who plant bamboo in their yard can attest to this fact after their yard becomes a bamboo forest!) and it doesn't need any pesticides, fertilizers or irrigation to enhance it's prolific growth. This is a huge step up from cotton, which requires the intensive use of pesticides & irrigation (even organic cotton - yes, organic farms still have to use pesticides, they just have to be approved. Not to mention the irrigation. I am a farmer's daughter. I know this stuff.)
Used in everything from flooring and construction to bed sheets, bamboo is quickly becoming a popular choice for environmentally conscious people around the globe.
But above all else, people continue to be amazed at how comfortable bamboo clothing is. Like a blend of silk and cashmere, viscose from bamboo feels great on the skin. Bamboo also has a benefit that silk and cashmere will never have... it's cruelty-free! That makes bamboo clothing perfect for vegetarians!
